Home - News - Canada invested more than $ 7.6 million for Vietnam's agriculture

    The Government of Canada will invest more than $ 7.6 million for a new development project through the International Finance Corporation ( IFC ) , to help improve the livelihoods of farmers in Vietnam by strengthening and improving access to capital knowledge of new methods in agriculture .

    This information has been the Canadian government officially announced at a meeting of Canada 's Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz in the mission of the Vietnam trade mission to take place on the afternoon of 29/11 , in Hanoi .

    Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz said the project will help improve profits for thousands of farmers across the country Vietnam through technical assistance and training related to the business of banking and agriculture .

    " On the other hand , supports this program will help increase access to capital as well as improved methods of agricultural activities . It will also help maintain the value of products during postharvest handling and storage , " emphasized Minister Gerry Ritz ..


    Exchange at the meeting , Mr. Christian Paradis , Minister of International Development of the Canadian Francophonie and the Commonwealth also said , through this investment , the Government of Canada will support farmers in Vietnam in the whole production cycle export from access to credit , technical training and advanced methods of production for the market access and commercialization of products .

    " Today's announcement comes amid Canada and Vietnam is the 40th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations . This project will deepen diplomatic relations , strong trade between Canada and Vietnam , demonstrating partner relationship is built between the two countries engaged in for 40 years .

    Through improving productivity for farmers and businesses Vietnam in the agricultural sector , Canada will continue to support Vietnam economic growth and further strengthen bilateral trade between the two countries , " Minister Christian Paradis said .

    Accordingly , this grant will last for 5 years , aimed at farmers producing export commodities such as cashew nuts and coffee , two leading commodities imported into Canada from Vietnam in 2012 .

    The Vietnam Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat gratitude to the Government of Canada 's continued support for Vietnam in general and valuable for agriculture in particular .

    " I am confident that this new project will bring benefits to farmers , and contribute to the implementation of the restructuring plan of Vietnam agriculture sector , " said Minister Cao Duc Phat .

"
